PHASE I / 2013

Phase title: Identification and biological and ecological characterization of the Nepeta, Agastache, Perilla and Lamium species from spontaneous flora, collections and experimental cultures

  • Phase objectives:

- Establishing the active collaboration network between the partner teams in order to promote the joint activities (workshop-type meetings).
- Identification and taxonomic characterization of the Nepeta and Lamium species from natural populations.
- Biological, morphological and phytochemical characterization of Nepeta, Agastache, Perilla and Lamium species from collections and experimental cultures.

PHASE II / 2014

Phase title: Phytochemical characterization of the plant extracts and establishing the multiplication protocols by conventional and in vitro methods for the in situ and ex situ conservation of the species with phytotherapeutic value and/or rare and threatened.

  • Phase objectives:

- Obtaining the plant extracts and their phytochemical characterization for bioactive compounds classes with antioxidant activity and implications in anti-inflammatory processes; assessing the antioxidant potential of several volatile and nonvolatile (phenolic) extractives.
- Establishing the in vitro multiplication protocols for the in situ and ex situ conservation of the species with phytotherapeutic value and/or rare and threatened.
- Developing the protocol for the multiplication by conventional techniques for the ex situ conservation and establishing ecological cultures.
